My Passion is Providing The experience, skills, and perspective students
need to be Globally competitive.
I have been an Art, Writing, and ESL educator in the US and China for fifteen years and active in the contemporary art world as a collaborator with my wife, Snow Yunxue Fu, an internationally exhibiting New Media artist. My varied professional practice has provided a vantage point over the creative development of students and professionals from many cultural and professional backgrounds.
I specialize in offering undergraduate, graduate, and professional application consulting, intensive short and long-term one-on-one courses, and developing school-wide programming for western art school applications.
My passion is helping students see the value of their journey, finding their voice in their work, developing their creative process, and providing the experiences, skills, and perspective they need to be globally competitive—not wanting them only to get accepted by top schools but succeed when they get there.

Follow His Teaching and you won't regret it!

My previous writing experience was focused on English exams, like TOEFL, which made my writing seem robotic instead of a living breathing person. That is an obstacle many Chinese students face. I took Mr. Hampton’s writing course, and through his professional teaching I learned many writing skills and strategies that I was not familiar with, leading my writing to a higher level.
Mr. Hampton is patient and focused. He keeps a steady pace and makes sure students understand all the content. All my questions were solved either during class or in the clear summaries he sent afterward. The most important thing I learned from this course was how to use simple steps to express ideas and emotions clearly and logically, while sounding more expressive like a native speaker. After his course, I was confident that I could make a good application and hand in excellent writings to my future professors.
Your writing is one of the most important parts of your application. The artwork descriptions, for example, are like water to a fish. You need to be able to clearly express your concepts and thinking to have a chance to get into the schools you want. If you are a student thinking about taking his class, I am pleased to say that you will learn a lot from this kind and conscientious teacher. Follow his teachings and you will not regret it.
He helped me understand the value of my own ideas and inspired me to find the rhythm, vividness, and logic of my own writing style.

I took Mr. Hampton’s Art School Application Writing Course and Grad School Interview Preparation. He is professional, patient, dedicated, and vigorous with every detail. His summary after each session provided me better digestion and introspection on the discussion of my writings. I even got up earlier each morning to take his class.
Through his intensive course, I received extraordinary feedback and suggestions on artistic writing as well as my interviews. The writing courses not only helped me to understand the value of my own ideas and how to summarize them, but also inspired me to find the rhythm, vividness, and logical coherence of my writing style. All of these experiences undoubtedly will be a great help in studying abroad, in my art making, and in my future career.
Working with Mr. Hampton, I would say, is a very good chance to deepen your language, academic, and professional cognition. If you’re going to take his course, don’t just take the things he gives you or ask for simple answers. Think about what his teaching and advice mean to you and how they will help you to find yourself in your work and convey what you think and feel to others.

Mr. Hampton is a kind and patient teacher. When I have some problem with my English, he helped me a lot. Every time I talk with him, he makes the whole discussion atmosphere easy and relaxed. During class, he taught with clear pronunciation so I could understand. For the writings in my applications, he didn’t just edit my mistakes, but also helped with my writing habits. For example, he helped me connect all of the art work ideas together for my whole portfolio.
After his course, my writing skills improved, particularly making ideas transition and connect naturally. I just want to stay, the more you communicate with Mr. Hampton during class, the more you will benefit. Not just in the application writing but your future life!

Mr. Hampton is not only a patient teacher but also an excellent writer. He taught me how to present myself more logically. By communication with each other, he allowed me to organize my study plans and goals specifically, and gave me more in-depth thinking on the description of my portfolio. At the same time, as an art educator, Mr. Hampton provided a lot of useful advice, such as layout and typeface, to make my portfolio application more professional. His courses will give you an opportunity to adjust your current level more quickly and adapting to different cultural learning modes, which enable you to prepare well for the future study and life in the United States.
